Hide /unhide slicers based on what user is using the dashboard.

Hi All,

Today I am trying to Hide/Unhide a slicer dynamically based on who is accessing the report/dashboard.

Is this possible with power bi security or is there any work around to acheive this.

Please all answers are appreciated.

Thank you

Hi @Anonymous ,

I don't think it can be done currently. Row-Level security is based on underlying data, you can hide values of slicer but not hide slicer it self.

Nevertheless, please check the document below see if it helps.

Hey @Anonymous

My first thought is to use Bookmarks to do this: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/desktop-bookmarks

My second thought is to create multiple dashboards that are similar (you can duplicate the first one you create) and then simply remove the slicers that are not needed in the duplicate.

Also check out the below threads as they may have other ideas:

Dynamics Slicer: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Desktop/Dynamic-Slicer-Based-on-Filters/td-p/428806

Default User View: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Desktop/Can-you-create-a-report-default-view-but-still-view-the-rest-of/td-p/303728

If this helps please kudo.

If this solves your problem please accept it as a solution.
