Help with Creating a Live PowerBI Report

Hello!

I am in the process of creating a powerBI report that the data is fluid and will be changing year to year. This data will also be enetered from different computers from year to year. Currently report is referencing an excel file on my computer but since it is on a local computer it is unable to be accessed by collegues or others who are on different computers.

Does anyone have any recommendations of how I can store and periodically update this dataset that would be able to be opened and edited from different workspaces and preferably still using excel?

Thanks!

Create a workspace,

store the excel file in the onedrive/sharepoint associated with said workspace,

use that excel file as the source for your Power BI report.

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks to Aron’s suggestion, I would like to fill in some details.

1.To store and collaborate files, you can consider the sharepoint team site which can provide a secure place to store files and let you and your co-workers can find them easily, work on them together, and access them from any device at any time.

2.To update this dataset to Power BI, you can upload your files stored on your SharePoint team sites to Power BI.

How to connect power bi with sharepoint.

go directly to your team site using its URL in Power BI desktop.

Refresh a dataset stored on sharepoint online.

3.Then you can create an app workspace which can contains reports, dashboards and datasets to collaborate with your colleagues.

Best Regards

Maggie
