I've noticed a change in behavior over the past months. The problem is, I can't show people it was different as it was never an issue before. Now I see that the date hierarchy has been changed. When using the hierarchy function, it suddenly includes more filter options than there are in the table itself...
I created the following date table.
As I created this one today, it only contains dates from April till now. However... creating a filter based on this column of data, suddenly there appear to be more dates than available...
Data:
In the past I also noticed that the available values in a filter visual behaved like an inner join instead of an outer join by the missing 'blank' value when the relationship between the tables was incomplete. I see that this is no longer the case.
All I want to know at this moment is whether someone can confirm that this change in behavior is correct or that I'm seeing ghosts created unkowingly by report level settings that can differer between them and cause changes in perceived behavior of relationships and data storage of values related to the date hierarchy...
Does someone knows what is going on? Or am I getting mad?
Hi @DouweMeer ,
Do you have the time intelligence option turn on on the options of your file?
Has you can see below if you have the time intelligence option turn on the calendar function creates automatically a virtual table for the hierarchy.
Be aware that this option can be turned off by default for all your new files on Global Data Load.
Check this video and article on the explanation of what is happening in the calculations and on the model when you have time inteliggence on and off.
