Handling unavailable images from URL

Thanks to the likes of this site, I've found how to incorporate images from URLs into a PBI report. However, I'm completely at a loss how to handle cases where the image doesn't display (because the URLs are generated from a text field, and may not exist). A simple example is below, where the URL is pulling in company logos. Ideally, I'd like to replace the broken-thumbnail image with either a placeholder, or nothing. Does anyone know if this is possible?

Hi @chrisbaker ,

According to your description, if the image cann't display correctly, you can first save the image in your computer and then insert it by clicking the Image tab under the Insert ribbon.

I feel like you didn't really read the post: this is via automated calls to an API that returns company logos. If the company logo can't be found, nothing is returned. I want to know how to handle that.

Hi @chrisbaker ,

You means you have already set the Data category Image URL, but the image still cann't display, right?

Make sure special credentials aren't required to access the image file. For example, OneDrive and SharePoint require authentication, so images stored there can't be added  in this way.

But there’s a solution when you need the image stored in Onerdrive/Sharepoint, please refer to the solved case for details: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Desktop/Image-viewer-working-for-Web-URL-not-for-One-Drive

I don't really know how much simpler I can make this:

I'm using company names to call an API. If it recognises the company, it returns the image. It displays fine. If it doesn't recognise the company, it doesn't work, and I'd like to handle those cases.

@chrisbaker , If this is dec-2021, then please check issues for any know issue - https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Issues/idb-p/Issues

or log a new one, few other users also reported this

Sorry I don't understand: this isn't an issue or a bug, it's just asking if there's some kind of error handling for URL image calls.
