Hello all,
I am very eagerly waiting for the answers from experts after this post.
I am trying to calculate the span of control of my organization.
I have complete HRMS data with me.
Before that A quickexample,
lets say the CEO has 3 direct reports and each of them have 3 direct reports. The CEO would have 3 direct reports and 12 indirect reports (total amount of people under him). That example is easy, but my company has over 10000 employees.
In my data, have Employee ID & Manager ID, His Manager And His Manager and His Manager i.e till the last level and I want to show Direct Reports and Indirect Reports for each employees.
Nothing But I would like to create a report that if a person X logins into that report,
Then the report should show the hierarchy as,
Employees direct reportees, Indirect Reportees(Upper level), His teammates.
Actually i got this idea when i have seen the Social Network graph in November Update.
Currently I am able to show Project Level Span of Control as
Who ever logins into that report, they can see the complete project hierarchy of their own projects list.
For HR Level Span of control, I need some advice and suggestions from experts.
Thanks,
Mohan V
@Anonymous,
You could use Path and PathContains function to achieve your requirement.

Thanks for the reply @v-caliao-msft.
I already did this and got the all employees path, that how he connected till the CEO level.
But how can i use this column in a visual so that i can visually show that how each employee is connected in organization.
As i mentioned in question, the november update given Social network graph which i am thinking to use for the same.
But when i use this calculated column in that visuals SOURCE Field and if i choose any Emp's using a slicer then i
dont get the upper level and lowel hierarchy which is my main concern.
How can i achieve this.
Can you please help me
