HIVE tables as data source

Im using HIVE tables from HDInsight Cluster as my source using (HDInsight Interactive Query to connect to the source). The tables have huge data more than 5 million rows. When using direct query, it's taking a lot of time to load the data and visualizations takes forever, which is not acceptable. What is the soultion to this as I'm restricted to using HIVE tables only?

Also, data modeling is not possible in Powerbi as most of DAX functions and transformations are not allowed in Direct Query method. How can i get the data from hive tables so that it does not create performance issues?

Why are you not using Import then? Direct Query has its limitations, performance and reduced data model functionality.

You can summarize or filter data inside Power Query before it gets to the data model if you don't want the millions of records in there at the lowest level of granularity.

DAX is for Analysis. Power Query is for Data Modeling
