Grouping different Entities as one company

Hi,

I work with lots companies which often have different entity names. Is there a way to group the entities so that PowerBI recognises different names as one?

For example F Hoffman La Roche are sometimes referred to as Roche, or PwC are listed as PricewaterhouseCooper.

I would like to group the entities together to find -for example- total spend by the group, whilst keeping the entities different and not having to change the data in the back-end.

I hope this makes sense and thanks in advance for any help.

Right-click on your name column and choose "New Group".

Great thank you, but what if I have two different tables and I want the group to work across both of them?

Are you suggesting that you have tables with different values for company names that should relate to each other but cannot due to the names not matching exactly?  Can you post example data from each of the 2 tables to provide more information?

You should be able to create the same groups within both tables and then relate them to each other, even if the underlying values that go into the group aren't the same, as long as the group names are the same.
