Group By Option vs Creating a New Table in terms of performance , which is better

Which would give me a better performance ?
1. Duplicating the Table and Transforming it by Group By
or
2. Creating a New Table using the DAX query and grouping my items there.

Will both the above approaches work in Direct Query /Import ?
What is the recommended approach in Direct Query /Import modes?

Hi @Anonymous ,

I would prefer creating a calculated table via DAX. Because duplicating the table in Power Query would add a new query, would execute the query request to data source one more time. I think this might reduce the report performance.
