Graph Products Sales Time Frame X next to Time Frame Y and filtered by State

Would like to show sales $ or units sold, filtered product category, comparing time period x and y next to each other on graph.

Would also like the ability to show same data by state.

Example would be unit sales or $ sales of 2 horsepower motors sold in all states sold comparing January 2015 and 2016

Then the rest of your question is just creating a visual, such as a matrix which has has state name and product as row (with a filter or slicer to select the product you are interested in) and your 2015 sales and 2016 sales measures as values.
