Google Analytics data differences

Hi folks

I see there are a couple of discussions about GA data no matching exactly and how to filter data by date - all good.

What I am seeing is a big difference in a specific case (haven't tried others yet). Basically I am selecting Demographics (Age, Gender), Date (filtered as only previous 30 days) and Event Actions (filtered only to "Complete").

Google Analytics tells me we had 9,919 of such events, but BI Desktop shows me only 5,027.

What could explain such a large difference in numbers?

what you are facing, is a sampling issue.
The solution around this is to use a data warehouse and then connect to power bi.
This article explains it in details.

Same Issue facing, when with selction of date, user and new user and goal data matched with Power BI. But by adding Defult channel grouping Total user count increased but New Users and  Goal Completion remains same as google analytics.

I also test that by using any custom dimension the will not remain same as google analytics.

I have two things you might want to check.

Possibility 1) The data received from GA is in fact different.

When you look in the GA interface or request data through the API, is your query exactly the same as in PBI? Same time period, same dimensions, same metrics, same filters & segments?

In GA, all non-standard reports will be subject to sampling if the total number off sessions within the requested time period exceeds a certain threshold (I think 250k sessions).
It could be that when PBI requests the full 30 days, you exceed the sessions limit and the data you get is sampled.

Possibility 2) You're looking at different calculations.

Possible explanation: Are you calculating the aggregations the same ways GA does? Are you querying total events or unique events? How are you replicating this in PBI?

Thanks for your answser.

I acknowledge the two previous point therefore I did a simple test.

What I am actually trying to achive is to monitor stats on my company Sharepoint Site.

I created a custom variable where I store the SID of our users that I would like later on to match with our AD.

I created a custom report on Google Analytics where I choose only the Dimension:SID(CustomVariable) & Measure:PageViews.

This report generate 301 lines.

I did the same selection on Power BI and found only 142 lines. On this lines some SID are missing which makes my analysis ireleavant 😞

Regards,

I have a similar issue with Google Analytics data. Compared to GA, there are missing data in PBI desktop.

I would like to ask if it is possible to get data from GA by sorting. I mean I would like to get latest data first if there is any limitation for number of rows.  It does not ask for the date period while connecting/getting data. Sorry, I am a new user. Thanks.
