Get the value from a column based on a search over another column

Hello to all

I have a directory table that has the FullName; Email, and Alias.

In another table I can have the user listed by email or Alias. So I can not link them to facilitate the work.

What I need is to search the value (email first, Alias after) from table A in the Directory Tablem and if exists return the FullName.

I tried Contains and IF but it did not worked.

Vlookupvalue doesn't seem to be what I need.

What can I use?

Thanks

Hi @Anonymous.

For your scenario, you can refer to below link to know how to search specific text in your formula.

Reference link:
IF and Search Function for finding if a specific value exists in two columns

If above not help, please share some sample data to test.

@v-shex-msftI managed to do a multilple IF using the CONTAINS and LOOKUPVALUE. For the lookup I use the search text from the other table and it works as expected. I was thinking wrong. But it is a tricky way to do it usinf the multiple IF. Maybe a CASE function should be in order. 🙂
