Hi guys.
I really need help. I am currently working on a small project regarding registration of- and presenting of project time consumption.
I have created a Sharepoint Online list for holding the registraions data. I now need to create i Power BI report based on the list.
Users of the Power BI report are the managers of the people registrating in the Sharepoint list. They need to be able to filter the report by "Manager" in order for the to only see data conserning themselves.
Are there any way of retreiving a list of 365/Azure users and their managers? I have tried connecting to MS Graph but apperently Microsoft stopped this service a while back.
Any ideas?

Sorry for the delay. I did not find the right solution so I had to create a data extraction directly from our AD to an SQL db.

Hi @JMOE
If you want to set permission to restrict user get your data source by role, you can refer to this blog:
Customize permissions for a SharePoint list or library
If you want to restrict the user to view your report you can set Dynamic Row Level Security in your power bi desktop and add roles in your service.

Not sure what fields are populated at your company, but the manager field is sometimes available through the SharePoint List connector, if it is a People/Group column in SharePoint. When you expand the Author or Created By/Modified By field, do you see that option?

Pat

The Sharepoint User Information List only captures the manager of a user at the point of user creation. Depending on the size of your organization you can use the ActiveDirectory connector in Power BI to pull the hierarchy, or maybe your company has a ready made regular extract available that you can use?
