Hi,
Just noticed second time on two models.
This model, recent -
I have two files, one 10034 rows, the other around 200 000 rows, 9 columns each.
First file is .csv, other is .xlsx, size is 1MB, and 24MB respectively.
When I try to fuzzy merge those, laptop slows down immensely and produces a huge file in GBytes, but it's not quite the file size, it's something on the right bottom corner. 490 MB is just a beginning, the file grew to over 5GB and took to make fuzzy merge 3-4 hours. Is it normal? PBIX file stays small, but Power BI in the right bottom corner shows these huge numbers.
Tried one last time. After 3 hours out of memory - crash.
Looks like a huge bug....
Same issue: very frustrating.
Any news from anybody?
Thank you in advance.
Same problem, have 8GB of RAM. The query got to 8GB before is crashed.
Fuzzy merge does make my computer work harder but I've not experienced any massive delays. Perhaps some more RAM would help as it looks like you only have 4GB. I have 20GB and Power BI often takes up 2 to 4GB of RAM or more.
I am not the original poster but I have 16GB of RAM and have this problem.
Hi @Anonymous
Fuzzy merge could cause a performance issue.I would suggest you reduce some data and unchecked the 'Allow data preview option...' like this post.Below is the article about performance for your reference.

I also have this problem with fuzzy merge. What's extra frustrating is that it seems to process or reload that large file on almost every operation. Unless I can figure out how change this behavior the feature is basically worthless.
