Fuzzy Match / Merge uses which algorithm

Hello, Can someone help me with which algorithm does Power BI use to perform fuzzy match? I would like to replicate that algorithm on the database side. Please help me with this.

Hi @srikanthgunnam ,

 

You may use merge and append feature in Query Editor, see more detail:Append vs. Merge in Power BI and Power Query , Tutorial: Shape and combine data in Power BI Desktop.

 

In addition, you can create column or measure to get matched items using RELATED function, LOOKUPVALUE function, or FIRSTNONBLANK function .

 

For example:

 

Column1=RELATED([one side field of relationship])

 

Column1= LOOKUPVALUE(tableA[goal field], tableA[linked field], tableB[linked field]))

 

Column1= CALCULATE (FIRSTNONBLANK ( tableA[goal field], 1 ),FILTER ( ALL ( Shifts ), tableA[linked field] = tableB[linked field] ))
