Format Date and Time

Hello,

I am trying to bring in a simple date table where I want my fiscal month column to read as text (i.e. JAN 2018). It keeps converting it to a date in Power BI. How can I make this come in as text. Thanks!

Try creating a calculated column using the following syntax:

FiscalMonth = FORMAT(Sheet1[SampleDate], "MMM YYYY")

Or, select your existing fiscal month column from the Fields and check/change the Data Type to Text, under Modeling Tab of power bi desktop.
