I can't recall ever seeing this question asked/answered. I was at a client this last week and they have a very locked down system which requires their IT department to load the latest Desktop each month in a location where the reporting team can download the latest. The question that I am looking for the answer to is this: How far back will Power BI support older versions of the Desktop? And what is the mechanism to update if there is a limit?
This also brings up the disparity then of a current PBI Service with an older Desktop version and the challenges in publishing to a much newer Service, but that is secondary to my initial question.
Can anyone provide any input on this?
Thanks in advance.
I have not found anything official for this, maybe someone from the team can answar?
However i have only expirienced a need to update when my PowerBI Desktop client is more than 3 months old.
