Happy new year 2019
I have to create a report on Fixed assets & its Appreciation and Deprecation over time
I have Matrix:
Asset #, Acquistion Price, Acquistion Date, Transaction Date, Debit Amount, Credit Amount
where
Debit Amounts Show the depreciation over time
Credit Amount shows any appreciation of asset
How can use a filter on fiscal year, to show above, on selected Fiscal Year, and also show rows from all previous years, upto when the assett was purchased?
i.e.
if the [Acquisition Date is selected Slicer FY Date] then display row, Acquisition Price, opening balance = 0, and show depreciation amounts if any for that year.
[Acquisition Date > Slicer FY Date], ; then do not show the record
[Acquisition Date < Slicer FY date ], display row, Acquistion Price, & opening balance = Acquisition Price + Depreciation from Past Years, & show any depreciation amounts for current year seperately?
I hope i am making sense 🙂
HI @Anonymous,
I'd like to suggest you to share a pbix file with some sample data and expect result to help us clarify your requirement.

Not really enough information to go on. Please see this post regarding How to Get Your Question Answered Quickly: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Community-Blog/How-to-Get-Your-Question-Answered-Quickly/ba-p/38490
Now, that being said, you are likely in a situation where you are going to need to use ALL or ALLEXCEPT in order to change the filter context being set by your slicer. The other option that you is to disconnect your slicer from your visual but you can grab the MAX of it and then return everything that is less than that date.
See if my Time Intelligence the Hard Way helps you understand how to remove context using ALL:
