Fixed Views in Dashboard - Share Links

Hi everyone,

I'd like to share a Dashboard to different users with user-specific fixed filters.

That means for example:

User A has a different shared link to the dashboard compared to User B as it is not allowed for User A to see the values of User B.

Is that possible in any way?

Like share Dashboard with fixed Filter-View?

Hi @omasis,

It seems that you are looking for Row -Level-Security in Power BI which can be used to restrict data access for given users. Filters restrict data at the row level. You can define filters within roles.

1. You could Define roles and rules within Power BI Desktop

2. Assign your member to Role in Power BI Service.

You could select different kinds of RLS, determined by the data source you connected.

Note : You should note the limitations of Row -level- Security.

Cherry

Hi Cherry,

thanks for your reply and idea.

Do you think that would be a feasable way for ~50 different Users/Roles?

Hi @omasis,

It should support 50 Roles and users.

However, you should have a good look at the limitations of Role -Level -Security.

For any given model, the maximum number of Azure AD principals (i.e. individual users or security groups) that can be assigned to security roles is 1,000. To assign large numbers of users to roles, be sure to assign security groups, rather than individual users.
