Fiscal Month column

Very basic but how do I create a Fiscal Month column so I can display our reports for this year?
Do I need a Date table?  I don't need specifics of dates, just the month.
I've researched this but so many solutions
Thank you

Using a date table unlocks certain date only features around dates filter and so on. I recommend using it but its not required.

For fiscal year, I have used the following formula for Oct-Sept

FiscalYear = "FY"&(Year(dim_Calendar[FiscalYearDate])+if(month(dim_Calendar[FiscalYearDate])>=10,1,0))
