Hello, I am using an excel source file which I download from the internet using a script task and the first column doesn't appear in the available columns, but opening the downloaded file and saving it and importing it again solves the problem, but the next time the script download's the new excel file the problem appears again.
I can see it from the downloaded file, but when I try to import it on power bi it doesn't appear in the available columns, but if I open the file and save it appears.
Hi @Anonymous,
This might be a problem on your source Excel file side. When you download the excel file from internet using a script task, the first column might be broken during the process. So, Power BI desktop cannot recognize it when importing data. But, Excel tool can recognize the broken element and recover it automatically when you open this file in Excel. That is why the first column appeared again after you open the file and save it.
Excel stores data with source code in XML format. You can check which element is broken in source code via replacing the file extension from .xls to .zip. XML & ZIP: Explore Your Excel Workbooks File Structure
Best regards,
Yuliana Gu
Thank you, I will look into it.
Hi @Anonymous,
Please share your Excel source file so that I can test on my side.
Regards,
Yuliana Gu
