Hi all,
I am using DirectQuery and have a created some charts using two source tables.
Now I would like to create a slicer to filter the charts. I know that measures cannot be used in a slicer, so I created a separate table manually using data from the source table in column A and added a category in column B.
In the example below, I would like to create a slicer with options "category a" and "category b".
Column A | Column B |
Source datapoint 1 | Category a |
Source datapoint 2 | Category b |
Source datapoint 3 | Category b |
Source datapoint 4 | Category a |
Source datapoint 5 | Category a |
I have then created a relationship between tables and dragged column B of my new table into a slicer, however the filter doesn't work on the charts.
1) I have noticed that the slicer is only working on a table which I have imported using a SQL statement
2) Also, if I use the slicer with a column from one of the source tables, this works fine
3) I have also tried to add the manually created category column to the table and page filters without success
Isn't it possible to filter a visualization from a source DB table using a manually created field? Is there another way of doing this?
Many thanks!
Hi @Anonymous ,
Please provide me with more details about your table and your problem or share me with your pbix file from your Onedrive for Business. Remember to hide sensitive data.

@Anonymous is this new table has a relationship with the tables that are used in visuals?
