Filter shows (blank) where there are none in table

I have a LOOKUP table that is simply 3 rows.

If I display it as a table, it shows just the 3 rows (as expected).

However, if I use it as a filter, I get a (blank) added to the filter, implying that the table contains a blank, which clearly it doesn't.

Why does it do this?  I have been using this table for several years and I have NEVER had this problem.  It is only within the last week that the lookup table is showing a blank.  At first, I added a report filter to filter out the Blank, but now my report data shows many errors as a result of filtering out the blank.

Then I figured that perhaps one or more of my fact tables had a blank record in them, so I went through each and every fact table and there a NO blanks nor is there a company name that does not equal one of the 3 listed above.

I tried re-creating the table many times, but it always shows the blank.  I should also note that I use this lookup table in many other reports and do NOT have this problem.  When I use the company filter in other reports, it does NOT show (blank).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Rose

Re: Filter shows (blank) where there are none in table

Hi @Roseventura,

Based on my research, it may due to your relationship, could your please check if the items in your dimension table could cover all the items in your fact table? If not, when you create a relationship between your two tables, it could show a blank in your slicer.

Yes, that was it.  I had an indirect relationship set up between the 2 tables and that is what caused the problem.

Thank you!
