Filter interactions

Hello,  I have a line chart on a page that I want to exclude from the Visual Date filter located on the same page.  The Date filter controls the values in a table on the page, but I want the line chart to be a 12 month trend, so I don't want it to be limited to the current month.  I have tried using the "Edit Interactions" and selecting the "none" icon on the date filter, but the line chart is still not independent.  How do I disconnect the line chart from this date filter?  I've also made sure that there is no "Report" or "Page" filter on the page, just the "Visual" level filter.  If I create the line chart on a separate page, it works, but as soon as I copy it back to the first page it resorts to showing one month only.  What am I doing wrong?

Dear @rpmitchell,

I'm usually using Edit Interaction, it always work for my full trend. You can try it again, step by step:

  1. Delete the Filter, make sure the trend with 12 months.
  2. Create and select the Filter
  3. Choose Tab "Format", click "Edit interactions"
  4. Make sure the Filter still seletecd, then choose none for the Trend

If you still got this problem, don't be hesitate to try/make a new page.

ManNVSM.

Yes, carefully walking through the steps helped. I now have a trend as well as the month on the same sheet. Thank you all.

I have tried using the "Edit Interactions" and selecting the "none" icon on the date filter, but the line chart is still not independent.

I think you have selected none on date filter based on your explanation. Do it in opposite way. Select the Date filter and mark no filter on line chart.

Interactions work perfectly with november release too.

If you still don't get what you needed just post a sample data.

I don't have a screen shot.  The file is on my work computer, and I'm replying from home.   I have Month-Year on the line graph axis.  Then I place a FY and Month filter on the page, selected FY 2018 and Month October.  This filters the numbers on the table as well as the line graph, which is great, except that I don't want that to work quite so well!  I will check to see if I can select no filter on the line graph.  Thank you.

Hi @rpmitchell,

What do you mean by Visual level filter? The visual filters are based on the variables you place on your visual or on the ones that you add directly to your visual level filter if you have a visual level filter with date because of the x-axis on your chart you need to check if you don't have any selection on that filter.

can you post a screen shot with the visual level filters you are refering?

Regards,

MFelix
