Filter a set of data using a unique value into a report

I want to create a report in Power BI using data from SharePoint lists. I want to draw all the data linked by a common identifier number that is included in all the lists used.

Is there a way to filter the data so that only the data applying to the common identifier number is included in the report?

For instance, on the front page of the report there would be a header which has a project name and the start and end dates of the period of the report. The project name and start/end dates are values in separate lists. Could I enter the appropriate identifier number somewhere so the correct project name and start/end dates are inserted in the report?

Re: Filter a set of data using a unique value into a report

Not sure if I understand your question completly.. But if my interpretation is correct your list consists of items which can be grouped by an category, or "common ID number".

Perhaps it's an idea to first create a table with solely these common ID's, and then create a relationship between the ID table and your other lists.

This way you can create a slicer or filter or other visual to filter out the desired ID

New table = DISTINCT(YourTable[IDColumn])

Thank you for the reply and your solution is appropriate. Having got over that initial issue, there are lots of other things to deal with to complete the report, so I am working my way through those.
