I think we should be able to filter between 2 dates in the future without having to create another column in Power BI. It would make it much easiers to create reports and have the date ranges automatically move on the slicer based on our specifications and not another column added to the filter.

Are you talking about date range filtering in slicer? If yes, that is already present in power bi date slicers.
Refer below image:
Left Image: Change type of date field from Date Hierarchy to Date.
Center Image: Change type of slicer to "Between"
Right Image: Choose the start and end date

I understand that. However, for the two dates for the between option, I want it to be a range. For example, Instead of 25/12/2018 to 31/12/2020,
I want an option for 3 months from now to 6 months from now
