Extract dates typed in Filters pane

Hello everyone,

Looking for assistance extracting date values entered in the Filters pane (using slicers is not an option).

Reports are exported to PDF and PowerPoint, with one page displaying all filters applied. We can extract/display all text-based filters as desired; however, we haven’t been able to extract/display date ranges from the Filters pane..

For example, in the Filters pane, two dates are entered via ‘Advanced filtering’:

  • OrderDate is on or after 1/1/2020
  • OrderDate is on or before 12/1/2020

However, the Orders dataset being filtered has a much smaller date range (i.e., MAX and MIN):

  • MIN(Orders[OrderDate]) = 5/5/2020
  • MAX(Orders[OrderDate]) = 8/8/2020

We’ve tested multiple possibilities against the Orders table, as well as a linked Date Table. Each test returns the smaller date range of the Orders table rather than the expanded date range typed in the Filters pane.

This is what we see (we don't want this):

  • Orders: 5/5/2020 – 8/8/2020

This is what we want to see:

  • Orders: 1/1/2020 - 12/1/2020

If the text shown when hovering over the funnel icon of visual headers can be extracted that would be acceptable too:

  • e.g., ‘OrderDate is on or after 1/1/2020 and is on or before 12/1/2020’

Again, using slicers is not an option. The Filters pane must be used.

A Community response from 2/2018 indicates this functionality isn’t possible. We’re hoping the capability has been added since then.

Thank you, Power BI experts!

@ghpbi

Do you have the 1/1/2020 - 12/1/2020 in the your data table? and did you use the correct date column in the visual.

If you only date in range 5/5/2020 and 8/8/2020, you cannot show date that does not recorded in the data table.
