Expression error: The name 'TRUE' wasn't recognized. Make sure it's spelled correctly.

Hi guys,

I'm trying to add a new column that reads from another column (Column ABC), Column ABC is a True/False data type, so I'm using

= if [Column ABC]=TRUE then "Yes"

But I'm getting an error saying "Expression error: The name 'TRUE' wasn't recognized.  Make sure it's spelled correctly."

Quite a simple query and working fine in other places. Do not want to use the 'Replace Values' function for this.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Regards,

Chon

Loaded this data

Name,Value
Thing1,TRUE
Thing2,FALSE
Thing3,TRUE
Thing4,FALSE
Thing5,FALSE

Created a new column with the following formula:

MyColumn = if ([Value]=TRUE, "Yes","No")

Note that the TRUE turns blue in the editor.

Also note that this is better:

MyColumn = if ([Value], "Yes","No")

It's a TRUE/FALSE field, no need to compare it to TRUE and/or FALSE really...

If using M code:

if [Value] then "Yes" else "No"

Again, it's a TRUE/FALSE field already, you don't need to compare it to see if TRUE=TRUE and FALSE=FALSE.

However, if you are dead set against trusting TRUE/FALSE columns to either evaluate to TRUE or FALSE, then the correct syntax for what you were trying to accomplish in the format you were trying to accomplish it in is:

if [Value] = true then "Yes" else "No"

true is lower case in M code, see:
