Exporting as template not working

Hi all,

I'm very new to power bi and looking for some help with templates.

I have created a report which I would like to use for different data. I analyse sports matches and would like to create a new report each time new match data is available.

I have went down the route of export > export to power bi template. When I select this a pbit. file is created. However, when I open this file, all of the original source data is there. I am not prompted to enter any parameter details as indicated on the Microsoft help pages.

Am I doing something wrong here?

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Marc

I have managed to figure it out by trolling through some YouTube videos! Turns out the problem was that as the csv file was still accessible on my laptop, it was automatically found and uploaded. Moving it out of the original folder onto my desktop solved the problem. Will also set parameters for data source to be declared in future use.

Cheers,

Marc

How are you connected to the data? If you're importing it, then I wouldn't think the source data would be included in a .pbit. If it's DirectQuery, then it'll connect with the settings you saved it with and you'll need to change the parameters to what you'd like.

Hi Alexis.

Many thanks for your message. The data is from a csv. file and was imported through get data.

Thanks
