Error while multiplying columns

Hello,

I am trying to create a measure by multiplying average rate, average yearly hours and average yearly allocation.

The multiplication of average rate and average yearly hours work well. Now If I try to multiply all 3 I get below error

This formula is invalid or incomplete: 'Calculation error in measure 'Range'[Cost]: The value for 'Annual Avg Allocation' cannot be determined. Either 'Annual Avg Allocation' doesn't exist, or there is no current row for a column named 'Annual Avg Allocation'.'.

Any idea?

Hi @Anonymous

you might consider creating pbix file that will contain some sample data (remove the confidential info), upload the pbix to onedrive or dropbox and share the link to the file. Please do not forget to describe the expected results based on this sample data.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Looking at the error you are having appears to me that you may have misspell the name of the measure. Are you sure that the [Annual Avg Allocation] is correct?

I selected the field from drop down so the spelling should not be an issue.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Is it possible to share a sample file?

can not share the file because of the proprietory data. I tried to reproduce it with new copy and it is working in new file. It seems there are some issues with the original file I have.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Have you tried to check the measure that is giving you the error if it's calculating correctly on the pivot table? (only that measure)

Hi @MFelix ,

I just realized that the field for which I am getting the error is not average but just a column in excel.

So for me average of yearly hours * avaerage of rate is working.

but following is not working

average of yearly hours * avaerage of rate * Annual Allocation

Hi @Anonymous ,

Try to make a measure with the column and use it on your measure. Again without any data is difficult to help you better.

😀😀

Miguel Félix
