Error - : "AnalysisServices: String reference not set to an instance of a String. Parameter name: s

Hello Guys,

I have some datasets that I got from Analysis Service. I try to refresh those datasets and it gives me an error. This happens last Friday. Before that, it works totally fine.  I have the same Power BI version and the same dataset on my Laptop. It will refresh fine. This only effect on my Desktop. Please see below for the error.

I try to reinstall power bi, downgraded and try to install the latest version. Still not working.

Can anybody please tell me what is this or is there anyone I can contact on Power BI technical side?

Thank you
DHana

For some reason I cannot post an answer, so I'll keep it short this time. Just "Clear Permissions" HOME>Edit queries> clear permissions

This solved the same issue for me.  Thanks!

Hi @Anonymous,

Open the application in the administrator mode and try to refresh. It will solve your problem.

Thank you,

Hi DHana,

Did you send any customized query to the Server?

How can I reproduce this issue?

Did you have the latest version of the Desktop?

It seems an issue of SSAS. Please refer to Forums/en-US and string-reference-not-set-to-an-instance-of-a-string.

If you'd like to contact Power BI tech, you can file a support ticket here.

Best Regards,
Dale
