Error messages when refreshing data

Hi,

So I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out what is going on with my report. Every time I try and refresh the data, I am first presented with the error message below

deanbland_0-1613744723394.png

... and then presented with these two errors on multiple queries:

- OLE DB or ODBC error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object..

- OLE DB or ODBC error: Exception from HRESULT 0x80040E4E

All of my data comes from a sharepoint site containing Excel files (xlsm, xlsx, xls), I have gone throygh each data type to make sure they are correct and am now unsure what else to do. It seems that everytime I manage to fix one error, another pops up.

Unfortunately I am unable to share the report as it has a lot of sensitive data within it. There is bit of the code from the error, but it was so large I couldn't post it all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Hi @deanbland

Your data sources are Excel files from sharepoint site.

You can try to get data by web by file link, the steps are the same as getting data from Onedrive.

Find your excel in document in sharepoint site and open it in app.

Copy link in info in File.

2.png

Paste the link into web connection in power bi desktop and remove ?web=1 in the end of link.

Sign in by your account which has access to sharepoint.

And I try to refresh in desktop, it works well.

For more details, you may refer to this blog: Use OneDrive for Business links in Power BI Desktop

Hi @deanbland

I have had this issue before and the step i took is to loose the file/folder in the folder

Documents\Power BI Desktop\Custom Connectors

Delete or backup a copy in another location if you have something here.
