Error in value Format while Exporting Data csv

Hi everyone

I'm downloading as .csv the data from a power BI model. But some data is formated with decimals in '.' and other data as ','

 Wondering why this would happen and how to fix it.

Thank you.

Hi @juangomez ,

The CSV format of the power Bi desktop export is correct, but UTF 8 and "," are used as separators.
If you encounter a problem that opening a file directly in Excel does not produce the expected results, it is due to the list separator setting on your computer.
To change settings: control panel / regional and language / advanced settings / list separator

Best Regards,
Liang

Hello

@V-lianl-msft

Thank you for your answer.

I'm checking the downloaded file in notepad.

It downloads some numbers as text, although the measure is defined as decimal and calculates from decimal defined columns.

It appears that the columns with commas in them are text and the one with decimals is numeric.

@juangomez

maybe some columns are formatted as String in Modeling ribbon or have a date type = text in Power query editor?

Hi @az38

'GS Scen 1', 'kg Scen 1' and 'NR Scen 1' are measures from this data imported from excel as decimal.

The measures are also formated as decimal numbers. I have no problem using them as numbers in Power BI (sum, average, etc.)

Thanks for your help.

@juangomez that is how it is formatted in Power Query. When you export, it comes from the DAX modeling side. How are they formatted there? You can change formats there and that may be where the different formatting is coming from
