Error converting data type nvarchar to numeric

I'm having trouble importing data sources where I'm getting the above error message. When I import two views from my SQL database (each view is for a separate year), I don't have any issues in Power Query Editor. When I try to append one to the other, I sometimes get the above error.

Specifically:

SQL Error.PNG

Both have the same Column Headers and each matching Column has the same Data Type. Alone, they are not showing this error, but when Appended, I get this error. Honestly I'm not really sure what I'm looking for to troubleshoot since neither of the sources shows an error and the above error does not direct me to the culprit.

Has anyone else had issues with this that can provide direction?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @willclein , I am having this exact same issue:

I'm having trouble importing data sources where I'm getting the above error message. When I import two views from my SQL database (each view is for a separate year), I don't have any issues in Power Query Editor. When I try to append one to the other, I sometimes get the above error.

I even went a step further and explicilty casted the field in question. Everything loads fine in the power query editor, but whenver I try to apply the changes in the report view it bombs out every time with the same error you experienced. Were you able to resolve this issue another way, or do you have a support case w/ MSFT? Thanks

Thanks! I will check there and create a post. I do have a Pro license so I will also create a support ticket with Microsoft. I'll leave this thread here in case anyone else has had luck resolving this.

Appreciate your quick response!
