Hi, I am wondering if there is a way that you could dynamically enter a value into Power BI that would link to the existing database and perform a calculation.
For example, say the database has combinations of variables A, B and C, and a value D that is a function of these three. Say you know that given A=a, B=b and C=c, you get D=d. However, you want A=2a (which isn't a valid value in the database), with B and C remaining the same. This change would result in D=2d. Can such a functionality be implemented?
Thanks.
Hi @HurrMark,
Power BI doesn't support Write Back to database.
What we can do in Power BI desktop is make the value returned by measure calculation to be dynamically changed based on slicer selection. The result is displayed in report view. But if you want a calculation implemented in database, such a functionality cannot be achieved now.

Thanks. But I'm not trying to modfiy the database. I want to get a single value from the database based off of slicer selections and multiply (or add, etc.) that number by a user-inputted value to get another result. The database itself won't change. Can this be done or is there some workaround?
Hi @HurrMark,
No. It is not achievable.
Dataset is loaded via Power Query. Slicer displays values from dataset. So, Power Query first, report visual afterwards. It is not possible to pass the slicer selection to Power Query to dynamically loading different values from data source.
