Enter data directly into Power BI Desktop

Hi

Is there a limit to enter my direct data?

Can anyone tell me if there really is this limit of entering the direct data?

It's only letting you load less than 500 lines

Thank you

After some trial and error (my dataset was close to fitting) the limit is 2,999 TOTAL cells of data (and a header row). Seems like it works with text or number. Did my testing over 1 2 and 3 columns and result was 2,999, 1,499 and 999 rows in each before getting the message

I also hit this limit (12cols, 909 rows).

My data source was originally an Excel table, but we didn't want an Excel file to be the source when setting up the Gateway to our Data Warehouse.

My solution was to cut and paste 5 separate tables (~200 rows each) and Append them into one table in the model.

I've definitely hit that limit too but wondering what the actual number was.

You can enter data into a csv file, or excel and then read that into your model if you need more.

It is a handy feature and I wish you could add more rows as well as have the ability to enter/edit data for models in the webservice.  Again, this is probably what Excel on a one drive is good for.

Hi

Actually, I was working with excel, but it hit the line limit as well.

I found is strange to insert direct to be so little.

Thank You

Do you have access to a database?  eg, SQL, Azure or even Access?

Flat files should have no limit, but a bit of a pain to edit.

Yes, I work with SQL, however for this type I put in temporary tables, and power BI is not letting me load in. The idea was to let power BI work with history and connect to the bank only the daily update. thanks
