ERROR: Required property 'Connections; not found

On opening various different files in Power BI I run into this error:

Something went wrong

Required property 'Connections' not found in JSON. Path ", line 1, position 136.

Copy details

Then Power BI closes.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I've tried downloading the file from Power BI service and I run into the same problem. Here are the copied details:

how do you choose diffrent versions? or how do you download diffrent versions of BI?

Hi @malkha ,

If you're after the newest version of Power BI Desktop you can get it here:

https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/downloads/

Now accepting Kudos! If my post helped you, why not give it a thumbs-up?

I resolved now by opening the file with Power BI Desktop downloaded by Microsoft Store instead of Power BI official site.

It works for me,

try that!

I've also found that using different versions of Power BI has allowed me to open it.

I can't say this is defintely resolved for sure, just strange.

Microsoft leave .msi from Power BI official site ..

I think they are moving to Microsoft Store

Updating versions does not help me. Still getting the same error. Here is the additional detail.

Ran into the same error few minutes ago when opening a .pbix file on PBI Desktop, version July.

Updating the PBI version to the latest October release should do the trick, at least it did for me.

Cheers!

My users also have this after I saved the PowerBI using the x64 October 2019 version and they open it with the x64 April 2019 version. First time I've ever seen this error.

Cheers
