Dynamic calculate Measure value based on Slicer Selection

Can I make different text appear depending on the slicer? 

For example, I select 'A' on the slicer, the text appears saying 'A selected'

I was thinking I could make a text measure: TEXTMEASURE = IF([slicercolumn] = "A", "A Selected", "not") , but I cannot reference the column. 

I am very new to Power BI.

In your IF statement you have to aggregate the column in some way. If it's text, use IF(FIRSTNONBLANK([slicercolumn], 1) = "A"....etc.
