Hi,
i'm building a report for german (dd.mm.yyyy) and en/us (m/d/yyyy) users. The slicer is the only visual which will switch the syntax of the shortdate on its own. the card and table visual will not switch the syntax. if i use datetime instead of the short date it will work.
is this a bug or how do i work around? i'm on january 2021.
attached a picture of my system with english and german settings
regards
Hi @craftbeer ,
Please change the type of the related date field Using Locale in Power Query Editor, you can refer the content in the following links to get it.

In addition, there is a blog here about using a slicer to switch different date formats, you can review and check if it can also achieve your needs.

Best Regards
Just found this article which describes the same problem. Due to internal IT regulations i am not allowed to use a newer version than January 2021. Can someone tell me of this was solved in a later version?
Unfortunately, this post comes with a caveat, at the time of writing it would seem there is a bug in Power BI.
Hopefully once this issue is addressed, the use of regionally dynamic date formats will be available for both long and short formats.
