Dynamic Query

Hello,
I have huge data so I want to use dynamic query like if I select i.e one parameter and want to show one shift data in that for one shift 480 points (like i have 15 shifts and 350 different parameter )

It's become huge data having limit for sql server data so cant tack all data for visualization .

So can I pass dynamic parameter in direct query which gives me data for selected parameter only and perticular shift start time and end time I know

When I select another parameter on dashboard its gives me data releted that shift and parameter

Date and Shift , Tag filter dynamic when I select that time hit data from database  becouse tags are 360 and shifts also 15 for each tag and 480 data point for each shift and tag.

Hi @Anonymous,

If I understand your requirement correctly that you want to Create Dynamic Query Parameters in Power BI Desktop?

If it is, you could have a good look at this video.

Hello @vanessafvg,

Actually I have 350 tags and 15 shift back data from current shift .

Data is every 1 minutes so one shift is 8 Hours like for one shift 480 data points .

It is impossible to tack all data in power bi (350*15*480) rows

so i want to pass when i select shift date and time and tag that time dynamic data fetch from data base and show on scatter chart

Hope you understand Now....

If possible please suggest me any solution

Regards ,
pooja

@Anonymousso in other   words from the front end you want to tell the db what to bring back?  i know you couldn't do that a while back, i dont think that has changed, if you only want to bring the last day back or a data range you can use parameters in query editor, however that wouldnt work from the front end as far as i know,

What would you make that selection based on?  i don think all the data in power bi is an issue if you model it correctly 2 million rows is a lot if the data is very wide but in memory has great compression, just depends on how much duplication of values there are.

Hello @vanessafvg,
If I created parameter in power bi how that will refresh  at Report server??live is it possible???

Regards'
Pooja

@Anonymous

firstly are you importing the data in from where?

secondly from report server?  i dont quite understand what you mean.

you can via parameters send a set a date range in query editor for example the last week everytime it data refreshes but like i say you cant' do that from the visual pane.
