Duplicate Date in Power BI Date dimension

Hi Team,

We need to support custom financial period configuration in our Data Model and it can be different for same dates.  For ex. 25.01.2020 can be in Period 1 as well as in Period 2 in the same Date Dimension. Due to this there are duplicate records for the same dates and to reduce number of records only required dates are populated and not the series of dates.

We need to mark this dimension as date dimension in Power BI Model to use controls like Time Line Slicer in the Dashboards. But Power BI Model doesn’t support duplicate dates and also not the gaps in dates in the Date Dimension as per below link.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/guidance/model-date-tables

Please suggest a solution to this.

Thanks

Hey @Anonymous ,

you would store the different fiscal years in new columns. But the dates still exist only once.

Check the following article about fiscal years in DAX:

Custom time-related calculations – DAX Patterns

If you need any help please let me know.
If I answered your question I would be happy if you could mark my post as a solution ✔️ and give it a thumbs up 👍

Best regards
Denis
