Drilling into a visual

Is it possible to drill down into a total on a card? or into table to show where that data is making up that visual.

Ex. I have a total bookings card with $XXXX I want to be able to click on that and see what jobs are making up this dollar amount. Same with the table visual. I have a customer and total for the year on each customer. Id like to be able to click the customer and show a list of jobs make up that total.

As has been mentioned, you can set up a drill through page for a table visual.

As regards a card visual, you cannot set up a drill through page. You can however set up a report page tooltip for a card (and for a table for that matter).

Here are a couple of examples in case you are interested:

The report page tooltips refer to the following data (for your reference):

1) Card Visual with report page tooltip type column chart

 2) Card visual with report page tooltip type table2020-01-25 (6).png

3) Table visual with report page tooltip type column chart:

Does this help?

Hi @Jmccoy ,

It is impossible to drill down into a total on a card visual.
You can choose other suitable chart to use the drillthrough feature.
If you think it should have this feature,I would suggest you to submit your idea to help improve power bi.

Best Regards,
Liang

@edhans ,

my apologies, I forgot to add a link for the bookmark solution/workaround:

It's a bit limited in that it will not pass any filtering unless filters are passed to the bookmark through synced slicers.

I cannot find anything in that thread about assigning a bookmark to a card.

The workaround would be to create a button, indicating possibility to further drilldown, with a bookmark action to e.g. another page. Crossfiltering from other visuals will not be filtering the other page, but synced slicers will

Hi @Jmccoy ,

with cards you have to options:
bookmarks: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Desktop/Drillthrough-on-card-or-button/td-p/598378

or tooltips: https://docs.microsoft.com/nb-no/power-bi/desktop-tooltips

For your table I guess the drillthroug feature will be the right choice:

Cheers,
Sturla

How do you do a bookmark on a card @sturlaws ?
