Hello All,
Are there any differences if any if you download PBI Desktop from the Microsoft Store vs the online download option? I for one could not open files created in the online downloaded version of PBI from the PBI downloaded from the Store. Is that expected behavior and are there any other differences?
Thank You

The store version of the program is certainly installed differently and does make use of a different cache. I certainly would not recommend having both installed at the same time.
Having said all that, the files from both are compatable with both. You may see an incompatability if you save a PBIX file in a certain release version and then try to open it from a previous release version. You can check the version of the installed Power BI Desktop from the "Help" -> "About" menu.
I currently have both installed and this was more of a recent move since I heard the one downloaded from the Store updates on its own compared to the one we download from the web which requires admin rights which is a pain. Also, from usage idk why I feel the store downloaded one is runnin faster, even though it should be the same. Are there any specific issues having both?
