I have two big(lots of rows) fundamental tables in Power BI Query Editor, A and B, they both get data from a database through ODBC by using SELECT SQL statements.
I need to get a new table AB by INNER JOIN A and B.
Option 1:
Creating a INNER JOIN A and B SQL statement to get the data from the database for this new table AB.
Option 2:
Using Power BI's "Merge Queries as New" feature to create the new table AB.
My question is, will the option 2 also need to connect to the database to get the data as option 1, or it doesn't need to connect to the database and can get the data already stored in Power BI file (the A and B tables in Power BI file)?
Thanks

Merge Queries as New creates a reference query and will connect to and load from the original source.
