Do data types make a performance difference for relationships?

I am reading a book that advocates creating relationships between two date data type fields when both tables also have the same information stored as an integer.

As a database person, my gut instinct is to set the relationship on the integer for better performance.  Is this true in Power BI or no?

I read somewhere that integers are better than text, but wasn't sure about date/time.

Thanks.

Hmm, date/times are actually just decimal numbers so not 100% sure on that one. You'd probably have to test some query in DAX Studio I would imagine to be be sure.
