Hi Everyone,
The Bing map engine behind the map visualization in Power BI is very intuitive allowing users to provide textual data such as City or Country to map metrics. However, one thing which is not immediately obvious is how to get around the issue of duplicate City/District names. As soon as we try to map the category data by District, we get an obvious problem of District with the same name placing in different regions/states of India and sometimes out of India as well.
I tried this method for my desired result.
1. Click “New Column"
2. Select the data source in question.
3. Select the two or more columns that contain the data. Here we want to concatenate: District and State and named it as “District_State”
4. Used the "District Name"<space>District"State Name"
The only problem with this is if you set the Data Category value incorrectly no data will be displayed as shown in this final screenshot. And if selected it will show multiple Districts (here it is plotting Aurangabad of Bihar at the Aurangabad of Maharashtra) of the same name in a different state of their original state of origin and some time out of India as well (for example, North-West Delhi is showing at somewhere in South Africa). Here we tried to change the name with their alternate name but Bing Map was unable to find it and placed them in different regions of the country.
Can anyone help with this?
Thanks in Advance.

Hi @nyn_prshr ,
The Map will only identify valid data in the Location, Latitude, and Longitude . You may change the Data Category of [District_State] with "Place" or other categories to make it work.
Best Regards,
Amy
