Dimension Field doesn't show values in Visual Level Filter

Why does my dimension field not populate with dimension values when used as a Visual level filter?

Visual level filter.png

My goal is to have a Visual level filter on several views using the Market Segment Group field. From the table in the screenshot, you can see that the Market Segment Group field breaks out the Net Sales calculation. However, the values in the Market Segment Group field do not populate the visual level filter. Instead of showing .COM, BT, LE, and MBR, the only option is ‘Select All.’ Nothing happens if I search for one of the values either.

If I create a slicer for Market Segment Group, the views respond correctly. If I right click a Market Segment Group in the view and choose Include of Exclude, the correct Visual level filter is generated. If I create a new field calculation to includes a Market Segment Group filter for .COM, for example, the correct result is returned.

The calculation for the YTD Net Sales TY field is:

YTD Net Sales TY =
TOTALYTD(
      SUM('Sales'[Net Sales]),
      'DATE'[Date],
      ALL('DATE')
)

Hi @Anonymous ,

Please clean the Date filter applied in "Visual level filters", which might filter out the Market Segment Group records. Then, check whether Market Segment Group fields shows available items.

Thanks for your reply @v-yulgu-msft.

If I clear the date filter, I do see the values in Market Segment Group. However, I don't understand why or how. First, I need to be able to filter to a single date. Second, the Net Sales numbers all nest into a Market Segment Group so logically, if there are sales, there are Market Segment Groups. Third, both Net Sales and Market Segment Group are in the same table in my data model, so if Date is correctly connecting to sales, that should also be true for market segment.

Further, if I use the Market Segment Group field in a table view with Net Sales and the date field, it populates as expected, so why can't I use Market Segment Group as a visual level filter?
