I have a BI file that includes various data including a "create date." I need to be able to do some year over year and trending calculations/graphs but I'm not sure how to do this using a date table. I know how to create a date table, but every time I create the relationship the data never seems to work.
Any tips or help is appreciated.
I have a blog post full of tips on how to use calendar tables here http://exceleratorbi.com.au/power-pivot-calendar-tables/
What do you mean about "every time I create the relationship the data never seems to work"? Generally, if both columns are date type, the relationship will be detected automatically.
Do you have problem on creating the relationship or creating YoY calculations/graphs after you have created the relationship? Could you post your table structure and some sample data with your expected results?
