Did you notice ???

Hi ALL,

Wanted to check if this is the issue in ALL regions of Power BI Desktop.

So for e.g this is my code

Diff Tool =
var _a = MAX('Table'[Report Date])
var _PreviousDate = CALCULATE(MAX('Table'[Report Date]),FILTER(ALL('Table'), 'Table'[Report Date] < _a))

RETURN
_PreviousDate

which works perfectly fine.

IF I write the same code

Diff Tool =
var _a = MAX('Table'[Report Date])
var _PreviousDate = CALCULATE(MAX('Table'[Report Date]),FILTER(ALL(Table), 'Table'[Report Date] < _a))

RETURN
_PreviousDate

The only missing piece is ' ' (the inverted commas) before Table.  I get an error.

Error:

The syntax for 'Table' is incorrect. (DAX(var _a = MAX('Table'[Report Date])var _PreviousDate = CALCULATE(MAX('Table'[Report Date]),FILTER(ALL(Table), 'Table'[Report Date] > _a))RETURN_PreviousDate)).

Been an hour debugging, and the error is  missing ' ' . 😞

Just thought to post for all to benefit.

Regards,
Harsh Nathani

@harshnathani I think Table is a reserved word and it required quotes, similar if you have Date table, you need quotes.

I would  Kudos if my solution helped. 👉 If you can spend time posting the question, you can also make efforts to give Kudos whoever helped to solve your problem. It is a token of appreciation!

Hi @harshnathani ,

As @parry2k mentioned, Table is a reserved word, so if your dataset name is table, it needs to be defined under single quotes in your DAX expression.

If this helps and resolves the issue, appreciate a Kudos and mark it as a Solution! 🙂

Thanks,

Pragati
