Detail Report Listing

I'm new to Power BI. I'm trying to create a report that has detail lines from a stored procedure. I can connect to my data, no problem, I can get the query to work, no problem. The problem is, when I want to design a standard report, I get one total line with NO DETAILS and that's it. I need the detail for this and most of my reports. I also need to get it to group (so that I can send multiple people into the dataset). I see a Row Groups and Column Groups, but I can't drag the group key to it.

Is there any training or information on how to build a standard report (general ledger, list of expenses, purchases, payroll, etc.) without just a summary, but each line listed. I don't need it to collapse nor expand, I just need it to print a heading, column headers, details, totals and of course a page footer with the pages on it.

Thanks,

Bob

Hi @RWineJr - If i understood your requirement correctly I think you need to display Page header/Footer/Table Header and other static values on your report even before the SP returns you data?

If this is correct understanding, please read below. Else Can you explain a bit more?

You can add any static Boxes (Insert>Shapes> Rectangle) and show data whatever you want to show static without any DB Connectivity or SP results.

For displaying Table header, if the table column names are static: you can try merging 4 (Images>Shapes> Rectangles) and create a custom Table header which will have column names but no data.

Your actual data tables can sit inline to this custom header with no column header.

Hope this helps and gives you some pointers.

Cheers,
