Desktop installation problem and upgrade links to blank page

HI,

I have been trying to upgrade my desktop version but when the link https://aka.ms/pbidesktopstore opens nothing happens.

Also now when I trues to go into Power BI I et a message that the exe was not found, and it seems like its been "uninstalled". The only files I can find are some SSMS reference files in the registry.

Does this indicate that an upgrade was in prgress and didnt finish, hence I have effectively no installation?

If this is the case how can I get an older msi file to install, because when I try an run it I get a message saying a later version of Power BI desktop (x64) is alrady installed. If you wish to upgrade, please first uninstall the previous version.

Now I cant uninstall becuase there is no reference to it in Control Panel/Prgrames and Features and in fact I doent even have a Power BI folder anywhere on my machine.

This is very irritating. Please could someone assist with how I can get past this to start the installation and then I can run the update.

Thanks, Robert

Hi @Robert858 ,

Please try these solutions:

1.Delete all files and folders you can find about power bi desktop in your pc, restart your pc

2.Download the latest version of power bi desktop in web page instead of windows app store(https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=45331)

Be aware that, beginning with the September 2019 release, Power BI Desktop is released only as a single .exe file, which contains all supported languages. The .msi version is no longer being released. If you want to download previous version, please visit: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/desktop-latest-update-archive

3.Install power bi desktop and try to set the installation path different from your previous path you have installed before

4.Also, you can use command-line options during installation, please refer: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/desktop-get-the-desktop for more details

If it is still works wrong, you can post error message or screen shots for further discussion.

Best Regards,

Yingjie Li

Installing from MS Download Centre solved the blank page issue for me.
